IDEO.org's 2015 field guide sets out its human-centered design process for the social sector: a set of underlying mindsets such as empathy and learning from failure, worked through three phases from Inspiration to Implementation. It combines those with fifty-seven practical methods, worksheets and real case studies for going from understanding people to testing a solution.
IDEO.org's hands-on field guide to human-centered design for the social sector — mindsets, fifty-seven methods and cases for going from understanding people to prototyping solutions. Almost a textbook for two SDF components working together: Humans and Procedures. Published by IDEO.org in 2015, the guide sets out the organisation's approach to human-centered design for the social sector: seven underlying mindsets, including empathy, optimism and learning from failure, worked through three phases the guide calls Inspiration, Ideation and Implementation. It pairs those mindsets with fifty-seven concrete methods, worksheets and real case studies, meant to take a reader from building empathy with the people they are designing for through to testing and sending a solution out into the world.
