This free toolkit, developed by IDEO together with teachers at Riverdale Country School, adapts the design thinking process for K-12 education. It gives educators methods and a workbook for using design thinking to improve their curriculum, classrooms, schools and communities.
"Design Thinking for Educators" is a toolkit developed by the design firm IDEO in partnership with teachers at Riverdale Country School, a K-12 independent school in New York. It grew out of a 2010 project in which Riverdale faculty, led by three teacher-facilitators working with a design team of fifteen, set out to encourage more collaboration among teachers using design methods. The resulting toolkit adapts IDEO's design thinking process, an overview of the process itself, practical methods, and a Designer's Workbook, specifically for the context of school education, so that teachers can use it to design more effective curricula, learning spaces, tools and systems, and to act as agents of change in their classrooms, schools and communities. It is distributed free of charge.
