Project Cybersyn was Stafford Beer's cybernetic management system for Chile's economy, used by him to illustrate the elasticity a system needs to absorb shocks and stay coherent under unpredictable change.
The ambitious, ultimately tragic cybernetic management project in Chile that management cybernetician Stafford Beer partly drew on, in his book "Designing Freedom", to describe the essential 'elasticity' systems need — the active capacity to stretch, respond, absorb disturbances, learn from perturbations, and maintain coherence when confronted by the unpredictable fluctuations of the present.
