Los límites del crecimiento is the Spanish edition of The Limits to Growth, a report commissioned by the Club of Rome and written by Donella H. Meadows, Dennis L. Meadows, Jørgen Randers and William W. Behrens III. Using a computer model called World3, the authors simulated the interaction of five global trends: population growth, industrialization, pollution, food production and the depletion of natural resources. Their central finding was that, if these trends continued without change, the limits to growth on Earth would likely be reached within the next hundred years, most probably resulting in a fairly sudden and uncontrollable decline in both population and industrial capacity. The report was one of the first widely read attempts to model the global economy and environment together as a single interacting system, and it helped bring the idea of ecological limits into mainstream policy debate.
