HIistoria ambiental de Chile

Historia ambiental de Chile, by Pablo Camus and Ernst R. Hajek, was published in 1998 by the Department of Ecology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, growing out of a FONDECYT funded research project on poverty and environment in central Chile. Running to 183 pages, the book surveys Chile's environmental history between 1964 and 1994, divided into four parts covering the periods of import substitution and state enterprise (1964 to 1973), the free market and export economy (1973 to 1989), and the transition to democracy (1990 to 1994). It examines sectors including forestry, fishing, mining and urbanisation, alongside the wider development of academic and social attitudes toward the environment over that period.
