Health Design Thinking

Written by physician Bon Ku, founder of the Health Design Lab at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, and designer and curator Ellen Lupton of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, the book applies design thinking to health-care problems through play and experimentation rather than a fixed method. Case studies range from the redesign of prescription drug packaging behind PillPack to a credit-card-sized device that lets patients take their own electrocardiograms, and clearer signage for emergency rooms. First published in 2020, it was later updated with a second edition covering innovations that followed the COVID-19 pandemic.
