Funky Business, by Kjell Nordström and Jonas Ridderstråle, argues that conventional business thinking is too dull to attract talented people or loyal customers, and calls for creative, unconventional approaches to work and enterprise in a changed economy.
Funky Business: Talent Makes Capital Dance, by the Stockholm School of Economics academics Kjell A. Nordström and Jonas Ridderstråle, was first published by Prentice Hall in 2000 (the entry here is the Spanish edition, El Talento Mueve al Capital). The book argues that business as usual is boring and cannot attract either talented workers or loyal customers, and sets out suggestions for making both work and business more creative, inspired and surprising. The authors contend that understanding what will drive tomorrow's society cannot be delegated to politicians and executives alone. Despite its casual, accessible style, the book is a broader survey of a shift in the basic values underlying social and business structures in the global economy, and it sold close to a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
