El más sublime de los histéricos offers Slavoj Žižek's reading of Hegel through the lens of Jacques Lacan's psychoanalysis, presenting Hegel as a thinker of the concrete and of revolution rather than of pure abstraction. Along the way, Žižek addresses Lacan, Marx and Kant, democracy and totalitarianism, bureaucracy and servitude, necessity and contingency, representation and image, and the relationship between communism, psychoanalysis and deconstruction, aiming to unsettle familiar readings of Hegel and propose new ways of engaging with these questions.
