Victor Papanek: Politics of Design

A retrospective of Victor Papanek, the conscience of twentieth-century design, whose insistence that design serve real human and social needs still shapes the field. A direct line to the SDF's Social-Responsibility motto and its design-is-political conviction. Published by the Vitra Design Museum and edited by Mateo Kries, Amelie Klein and Alison J. Clarke, the book was produced alongside a major exhibition of the same name. It gathers essays and interviews on Papanek's legacy alongside original photographs, artwork, drawings and correspondence from the Victor J. Papanek Foundation archive at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, many published for the first time, and sets his work beside that of his contemporaries and designers working today.
