A 2014 Otro Canal television interview in which Humberto Maturana discusses his life, his view of education, and his argument that human beings are inseparably biological and cultural, dependent on language and emotion.
This is a televised interview with Humberto Maturana on the Chilean program Otro Canal, titled "Una nueva mirada del vivir" ("A new way of looking at living"), released around the fortieth anniversary of his coining the concept of autopoiesis. In it Maturana discusses episodes from his childhood, his path as an educator, and his view of education, alongside his broader argument that human beings are inseparably biological and cultural, dependent on language and emotion, and that Western culture is caught in what he calls an "addiction to truth" that a more biologically grounded way of thinking about life can help loosen.
