A Carnegie Mellon School of Design monograph, co-edited with Universidad de Palermo's Daniela Di Bella, that proposes transition design as a new field of design research, practice and study aimed at design-led transitions to more sustainable, pluralistic futures. It brings together contributions from designers and researchers across several countries and outlines how Carnegie Mellon reshaped its own curriculum around the idea.
Transition Design 2015 is a monograph produced by the Transition Design Institute at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design, co-edited by Daniela Di Bella (Universidad de Palermo) together with Terry Irwin and Gideon Kossoff of Carnegie Mellon. It gathers contributions from authors in the United States, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, Finland and Mexico, growing out of a Transition Design Symposium held at Carnegie Mellon in March 2015. The monograph sets out transition design as a proposed new area of design research, practice and study, arguing that design can help lead societal transitions toward more sustainable, place-based and pluralistic futures, and it describes how the School of Design reorganized its own curriculum around this idea.
