OVO – O HIBRIDISMO NO DESIGN BRASILEIRO CONTEMPORÂNEO

Rogério Zanetti Gomes's thesis, completed in Bauru in 2009 for the design master's program at FAAC, Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho," is a qualitative investigative study of hybridization between visual art and design in contemporary Brazilian design. Through bibliographical research into hybrid language, cultural mixing (mestizaje) in Brazilian design, and the relationship between art and design, the thesis examines the work of the OVO design company, led by designers Luciana Martins and Gerson de Oliveira. It analyzes OVO products that have been recognized by the Brazilian House Museum's design prize (MCB) as objects that carry artistic qualities while still being commercialized and recognized as contemporary Brazilian design.
