Epistemología y metodología en y de la investigación en Diseño

In this journal article, Roxana Ynoub sets out to contribute to the debate over epistemology and research methodology within the field of Design. She begins by defining epistemology as the discipline concerned with reflecting on the conditions under which scientific knowledge is produced and validated, then examines what is distinctive about knowledge in Design, arguing that it should be understood as a form of "projectual knowledge" (knowledge oriented toward producing a project or artifact) rather than knowledge modeled on the natural sciences. The article distinguishes epistemology, concerned with the foundations and validity of knowledge, from methodology, concerned with the procedures used to discover or innovate, and applies that distinction to the question of what counts as rigorous design research.
