The 16th European Academy of Design Conference, EAD27, will be held 3 to 7 May 2027 in Porto under the theme Trust, examining how design shapes trust across digital, social, cultural, and civic life and its intersections with transparency, accountability, ethics, and emerging technologies. The shared page sets out the conference tracks open for contributions. For the Symbiotic Design Framework, a conference on trust and design is squarely a question of Ethics, the framework cornerstone, and a venue for the kind of design research, including Research through Design, that tests how designed relationships hold or fail.
EAD27 convenes researchers, practitioners, and students to advance design research through peer-reviewed presentations, workshops, and keynotes, with expected outcomes including peer-reviewed proceedings and strengthened international research networks. Its thematic tracks invite contributions on how design shapes trust in AI systems, civic infrastructures, and digital governance.
