'Design Learning for Tomorrow, Design Education from Kindergarten to PhD' is a proceedings volume (HiOA Rapport, vol. 6, Oslo and Akershus University College) tied to the 2nd International Conference for Design Education Researchers, held in Oslo from 14 to 17 May 2013. Edited by Janne Beate Reitan, Ingvild Digranes and Liv Merete Nielsen, it gathers research on how design education can be developed and connected across every level of schooling, from early childhood through professional and doctoral design education. The editors frame design in a broad, interdisciplinary perspective and argue that sound design education matters beyond training professional designers: it also builds the wider public's capacity to act as conscious consumers and decision makers responsible for the quality and longevity of what gets made, as an alternative to a throwaway culture.
