Co-designing within Metadesign

The exact text of this article — 'Co-designing within Metadesign', credited to John Wood in Co-Design: International Journal of CoCreation in Design and the Arts (2008) — could not be located publicly. A closely related 2008 paper by the same author, 'Changing the Change: A Fractal Framework for Metadesign' (presented at the Changing the Change conference in Turin), argues that if designers want to help build an ecological society, they need to participate in political and economic change: unlike current 'top-down' democracies, ecological governance needs to be 'bottom-up', holistic and co-creative. It proposes 'metadesign' as a comprehensive co-design methodology in which the design team also co-designs its own frame of reference, drawing on empirical work from the AHRC-funded 'Benchmarking Synergy Levels within Metadesign' project at Goldsmiths, University of London, which produced more than 80 metadesign tools.
