Carbon inequality: richest 1% vs. poorest two-thirds
In 2019 the richest 1 percent of the world's population produced as much carbon pollution as the poorest two-thirds combined, about 5 billion people. That elite accounted for 16 percent of consumption emissions, against 8 percent for the poorest half.
