A manifesto launched on 28 September 2026 by UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES, the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory at Arizona State University and the Club of Rome. It asks for scientific, humanistic, cultural, Indigenous, professional and lived knowledge to be brought together, and for institutions that connect knowledge with action.
The manifesto starts from a gap: we understand the changes to the Earth system better than ever, yet the collective response lags far behind what is known. It links that gap to inequality, social fragility, political division, institutions that no longer fit the present, and knowledge too fragmented to act on.
It makes three calls: knowledge systems that work together rather than apart; conditions for different communities to deliberate, learn and work together across their differences; and institutions that learn with the people they serve. Endorsers include the economist Jayati Ghosh, Carlos Lopes of the University of Cape Town and Janez Potocnik of the UNEP International Resource Panel.
It was published ahead of the 2026 MOST Forum in Paris on 29 and 30 September 2026, where its principles are to be turned into a practical toolkit for policymakers. The full text and the list of endorsers are on the BRIDGES site.
