A fellowship of USD 20,000 for each of three writers with a completed feature screenplay or television pilot that engages meaningfully with climate change, with feedback from professional screenwriters and climate experts. Run by The Black List with NRDC's Rewrite the Future, The Redford Center, NBCUniversal and CAA Community + Impact; applications close on 4 December 2026.
The sixth annual NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship selects three writers, each receiving USD 20,000 to support the revision of a feature screenplay or television pilot, together with feedback from a credited professional screenwriter and from climate experts. The fellowship welcomes any genre, comedy, drama, horror, action, romance or other, provided that climate change and climate solutions meaningfully influence the story, and is particularly interested in stories that move beyond apocalyptic or dystopian depictions to explore the human, social, economic, political and emotional dimensions of climate change.
The programme is a partnership of The Black List, the Natural Resources Defense Council's Rewrite the Future programme, The Redford Center, NBCUniversal and CAA Community + Impact. Applications are made through The Black List and close on 4 December 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific time.
