Studies on Art and Architecture (Kunstiteaduslikke Uurimusi)

Studies on Art and Architecture (Kunstiteaduslikke Uurimusi), the journal of the Estonian Society of Art Historians and Curators, publishes research articles on art history, theory and visual culture, special issues, and reviews of books and events. Studies on Art and Architecture was first published in 1976. Until 2002 it was issued irregularly as a collection of articles. In 2003 the format was reorganised into a peer-reviewed quarterly journal (often published in double issues). The journal is dedicated to current research in art and architecture history and theory, visual culture, design and related fields, inviting contributions by open calls as well as publishing thematic special editions. The journal is focused primarily but not exclusively on research pertaining to issues related to Central and Eastern European countries and the Nordic region. Previously, special issues have also considered the problem of realism, the social determination of the living environment, construction of heritage, the relationships between art and ideology, issues of the object and its milieu, and many more.
