A research journal on architecture and urbanism published by the Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of the Universidade de São Paulo (IAU-USP), with one issue a year in continuous flow. It publishes theoretical, historical and critical work in dialogue with other fields, such as history, engineering, philosophy and literature. It is free to read and uses double-blind peer review; approved articles in Portuguese, Spanish or French must be translated into English by the authors.
Risco (Revista de Pesquisa em Arquitetura e Urbanismo) is devoted to broadening the theoretical, historical and critical debate in architecture and urbanism. Through interdisciplinary work with history, engineering, geography, the social sciences, the arts, philosophy and literature, the journal seeks to contribute to the national and international debate in these fields of knowledge, with a view to renewing the outlook and the practices of research. It aims to help strengthen the dialogue and exchanges between the research carried out in the various national and international research centres and institutes. Since October 2022, Revista Risco, in addition to the Masthead and Editorial sections, has arranged the works it publishes in the sections: Articles and Essays; Reviews; Document; Critical Point; Transcription and Window. The other sections may be activated when the opportunity arises. Since 2024, Revista Risco has not published a Thematic Issue outside the continuous flow. Revista Risco publishes only one issue a year, in which the Thematic Core section corresponds to what used to be called the Thematic Issue.
