Journal of Urban Cultural Studies

An international journal published by Intellect since 2014 that combines humanities and social science approaches to the culture of cities. It publishes research articles of 7,000 to 10,000 words and short-form articles that relate urban themes, such as everyday life or architecture, to forms of cultural production such as literature, film, music or art. Research articles are peer-reviewed; all articles are published in English.
The Journal of Urban Cultural Studies ( JUCS ) is a peer-refereed, international journal that blends humanities and social science approaches to the culture(s) of cities. Its pages are devoted to rigorously argued research centred on urban themes that attempts to fuse urban studies, and cultural studies, perspectives. Articles give more or less equal weight to: (1) one or more aspects of urban studies (everyday life, built environment, architecture, city planning, identity formation, transportation …) and (2) one or more specific forms of cultural (textual) production (literature, film, graphic novels, music, art, graffiti, videogames, online or virtual spaces …) in relation to a specific urban space or spaces. The journal is open to studies that deal with culture, urban spaces and forms of urbanized consciousness the world over. JUCS publishes both research articles and short-form articles. Research articles of 7,000-10,000 words (including references and notes) are the hallmark of the journal and represent an original contribution to the field [peer reviewed].
