American Art
A journal of American art history and related visual culture, published since 1987 by the Smithsonian American Art Museum together with the University of Chicago Press. It publishes feature articles of 9,000 to 14,000 words with 15 to 20 images, and short essays of 1,500 to 3,000 words. Articles are sent by email and reviewed double-anonymously; the journal obtains the image rights and pays the image fees.
