We decide collectively in a conscious or unconscious way what our desires and needs are. And every action design does, is a consequence of human beings as a species. We argue having free will, but we are dominated by forces beyond our control.

From a profound observation of the environment and humans, the necessary foundations for informed decision-making can be found. Not doing so implies your decisions will be guided by assumptions or personal taste, therefore you are not designing.

Design has been developing ways of doing things that differ from those of other disciplines. We might share certain abilities, certain methodologies, but the way we use them and how we have evolved them, differentiates us, making us unique.

Tools & Materials Component 308

Materials and tools have data imbedded into them, their intrinsic characteristics makes them more suitable for certain uses and conditions of use. To get the same result, we may need to change a material or tool if external conditions vary. Something it might be obvious, not always is the case.
