Fab Lab Insular, Puerto Williams

The establishment of Fab Lab Insular in Puerto Williams, brought digital fabrication to this remote southern outpost. It was driven by a broad, exploratory aspiration to see what new opportunities might emerge for the local community and unique biocultural context, rather than solving a specific, predefined problem. This experimental approach towards new tools demanded significant self-direction from its organizers to define its operational focus, identify needs, and develop relevant programs.
