Panel discussion on the future of design in Latin America

Within the context of the Viaje de Estudios course held every year with the third-year Design students of the Universidad Finis Terrae, a series of conversations was organized with guest members of the Cumulus Association in Latin America. In this way we sought to make up, for the moment, for the impossibility of travelling. Link to the video in the bio.

Design has been defined by many as a projective discipline. That is, one capable of casting into the future the ideas that will come to populate our present. The role of the designer has changed and will change even more, which is why we believe it is essential to range over:

• Design as a projective discipline • The ideal future or the real present • Opportunities and/or problems • Complex futures • What are we facing? • Professional opportunities • Future disciplinary fields • How do we stay relevant? • What can Latin America offer Design?
