Visiting the Shaolin Temple in China's Songshan Mountains

Blown away by the Shaolin Temple!

Nestled in the Songshan Mountains of Henan, this legendary site was founded in the 5th century AD and has stood for over 1,500 years as the birthplace of Chan (Zen) Buddhism and Shaolin Kung Fu.

While the tourist crowds are a reality, if you take a breath and look past them, a profound, undeniable calm settles over you. You can feel the centuries of meditation and discipline humming in the air.

What struck me the most was the stunning attention to detail in the architecture. Every courtyard, hall, and beam was meticulously arranged to reflect a strict hierarchical flow, guiding you upward toward a sense of enlightened predominance. It’s structural harmony designed to elevate the soul.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have walked these grounds. Truly blown away by this experience.
